Hose Halter Strap Overview
Hose Halters are designed to protect your workers from injury and prevent equipment damage when pipe or hose couplings fail under pressure. These innovative hose coupling safety devices help minimize thrashing, significantly reducing the risk of personal injury and equipment damage. They are made from strong, flexible nylon webbing and are suitable for pneumatic, water, and hydraulic hoses and pipes. The rubber grommets allow easy adjustment to keep choked eyes snug on the hose. Our standard lengths accommodate pipes and hoses with inside diameters with different ranges, meeting both OSHA and Canada OHS requirements for “hydraulic hose restraints” and other restraining devices on pipe and hose connections.
Features
- Robust and flexible nylon webbing provides strength and flexibility for industrial applications.
- Superior resistance to corrosion and sparks compared to metal restraints.
- Rubber grommets securely fasten the choke eyes around the hose.
- It must be installed in an extended position without slack for maximum safety.
- It is shipped with labels detailing working pressures and safety instructions.
- It minimizes equipment damage and reduces the risk of operator injuries in the event of hose, coupling, or clamp failure.
Types of Hose Halter Straps:
- Standard Nylon Hose Halter: A fundamental yet durable solution for everyday industrial applications. These halters are available in various sizes to accommodate hoses with diameters ranging from 1/4" to 6".
- Pneumatic Hose Halters: Specifically designed for pneumatic systems, these straps provide superior flexibility and control for hoses operating under compressed air.
- Hydraulic Hose Halters: These are built to handle hydraulic systems' intense pressure, providing that hoses remain secure and contained even in the most demanding environments.
- Custom-Length Halters: Some applications require custom solutions, and custom-length halter straps can be made to fit unique hose dimensions or specific gap requirements between choke points.
- Multi-Ply Options: Ranging from single-ply to four-ply designs for different strength requirements.
Installation and Use:
Installation Guidelines:
Proper installation of hose halter straps (nylon hose safety restraints) is critical to avoid slack. The loop ends of the strap should sit at a distance of approximately 4 times the hose’s inner diameter (ID) from the coupling ferrule, which helps secure the hose in place during high-pressure use. If excess slack is present, it can be reduced by double-wrapping the loops in a figure-8 pattern. Applying rubberized tape before installation will prevent the restraint from slipping, make sure it remains tightly in place for hoses with a smooth or slick surface.
Easy Installation Without Disconnecting Hoses:
A key benefit of nylon hose restraints is that they can be installed without disconnecting the hose from the system. This allows the strap to be wrapped around the hose and secured without interrupting operations, saving downtime and labor costs. This method is precious for systems that need to remain operational or when draining the hose would be costly.
Customization Options
Hose Halter Straps (Nylon hose restraints) are available in multiple sizes and designs to suit various applications. For non-standard requirements, options such as longer lengths, specific strength ratings, or additional features can be sourced to meet operational needs. These adjustments help for compatibility across industries and applications, including light-duty and high-pressure environments.
In addition to hose halter straps, we also offer a full range of Industrial Lifting and Rigging Equipment, including Chain Slings, Master Links, Lifting Points, and more.
